Little known fact - witches make great baristas.
Experts at brewing drinks. Accustomed to tall orders. Handy with brooms.

That's a lucky thing for Manner Cohen, because she is not great with magic. It's been years since she's seriously tried a spell, for fear of accidentally cursing someone again.

So for now, she works at Catdad's cat cafe.

But when a desperate mage asks for help, Manner can't just stand idly by.

And then it all comes rushing back. A world of magic, dangerous spirits, and a long-buried part of Manner that she can't escape.

Is it worse to be a bad witch — or no witch at all?

Manner Cohen

Catdad’s resident witch. Kinda. Mostly barista. And cat wrangler. And bookkeeper, and cook, and plumber--it’s not clear what Catdad would do without her.

Faye Villavicencio

Determined to become the next Morrigan, the queen of all mages. Faye co-founded The Outcasters, a coven of Farallon's most powerful up-and-coming mages. A frequent customer at Catdad's, along with her Kirin familiar.

Mila Amemiya

Mila--and her shapeshifting golem Tofu--are notorious on social media. (#thegirlwiththegolem, like and subscribe) The ability to command a golem is extremely rare, but her fellow Outcasters treat her more like a novelty than a powerful mage.
